Adelaide, Wednesday morning, 9 o’clock, July 6/98.
Just finished breakfast. Passed a very comfortable night & now I shall have to bid adieu to this very charming city & suburbs. The weather is not bright outside, looks like rain & I feel delighted that up till yesterday I had enjoyed lovely, clear, bright, warm, weather.
I don’t look forward to the long night railway journey with any kind of pleasure, tho’ conditions are ample on board the trains, which tend to as much comfort as is possible. I shall pay a visit to Mrs. Parker (Mrs. Stoddart’s sister) before noon & just say goodbye. I am sure Mrs. S. will be pleased to have seen them all.
My next letter will be from Sydney, all well. Now my sweetest love to you all & kisses for my lovely Comely. Oh, how I will delight to see & kiss him, if God spares me to get home. My warmest respects to all our friends. Willie is to send Mr. Adamson up a tin of choice fruit from me & as from Adelaide.
Good morning, July 6/98.
